A word from our CEO Peter Pfitzinger
We are in the most exciting time of the year when 12 months of hard work culminates with a pinnacle event in which success or failure is measured in tenths of a second or a few centimetres. Many kiwis are in competition around the globe during August and September with World Championships in BMX, canoe racing, basketball, RSX boardsailing, triathlon and others, the Women’s Blacksticks in the World Cup, Swimming Pan Pacific Champs, International Netball Series and many other championships.
We are proud to contribute in some way to many of these campaigns and are impatiently counting down the days to the Delhi Commonwealth Games and Rowing World Champs at Karapiro.
We are pleased to announce that Kylie Wilson has been appointed as our new Performance Psychologist and will begin in November. Kylie has a PhD in Psychology and is a New Zealander currently based in Wales. Kylie has worked in the UK for over 12 years within their support system, particularly immersed with the British Gymnastics squad across two recent Olympic cycles. Kylie has also played and coached rugby at an international level.
Also joining our team is Jennie Coker. Jennie has recently completed her PhD with AUT University on biomechanics in elite rowing. Jennie has worked at Karapiro with the elite rowers and been contracted by us for several years, but is now moving to full time employment.
Congratulations to all athletes selected and coaches appointed to the Commonwealth Games Team. It is rewarding to note that we have nearly 20 key NZASNI Support personnel heading to the Commonwealth Games as part of the NZ team across a range of disciplines.
