Physical Conditioning
What is Physical Conditioning?
Physical conditioning involves the planning and implementation of physical preparation programmes aimed at enhancing the specific physical characteristics required to improve sport performance.

Physical conditioning incorporates physical stimulus that is appropriate for the sport namely power, speed, agility, endurance, and flexibility training. This overlaps with the responsibilities of the Coach who has overall accountability of the physical, technical and psychological preparation of the athlete.

However the Strength and Conditioning Specialist is an expert in developing and enhancing an athlete's physical prowess for the purpose of improving performance and reducing the incident of injury.

Therefore the role of the Strength and Conditioning Specialist is to support the Coach through planning and implementing physical conditioning stimulus that complements the sport training and contributes to superior sport performance.
