Fees and Allowances Fee payments: The New Zealand Academy of Sport will pay up to $10,000 per 12 months in fees. Once you have been awarded a Prime Minister’s Athlete Scholarship programme, and have enrolled in your tertiary institution, the following will occur: - The New Zealand Academy of Sport North Island will contact your education Provider and request the invoice for your fees. This usually takes place after the date for final course changes and withdrawals, (this varies between tertiary organisations), which may not be until several weeks after you commence study.
- Payment of your academic fees will be made directly to your Education Provider by the NZ Academy of Sport North Island. Full year fees are paid at the beginning of the year.

As the living allowance payment is based on confirmation of your EFTS (equivalent full time study status) value per semester, please do not expect to receive the living allowance payment until after the New Zealand Academy of Sport North Island has received your fees invoice.
Living allowances will be recalled whenever a recipient’s course falls below the minimum EFTs. Eg: If a recipient withdraws from a paper. Unless the NZAS agrees otherwise. Your living allowance payments are paid by the New Zealand Academy of Sport North Island and will be credited directly to your nominated bank account as requested by your NZAS Scholarship Coordinator. Study Link Allowances Living allowance payments will count toward the income assessment for student allowances through study link. You must declare this living allowance, and all other income, according to Study Link procedures. You are entitled to receive the Prime Minister’s Athlete Scholarship living allowance in one lump sum as apposed to twice yearly (if eligible). Payments for receiving a one lump sum living allowance is made at the end of your second semester and once confirmation is received of your full compliance for both semesters.
