Performance Coach Programme

The Performance Coach Programme is open to approximately 70 coaches who work with carded coaches. 

Benefits include...

Performance

  • One-on-one access to specialists who can support your own performance needs (with budget approval from NZAS).
  • Improve your time available to coach with likely second priority for a Coach Performance Enhancement Grant.
  • Likely second priority to borrow NZAS technology and equipment.

Development

  • A process to collect performance-enhancing feedback for the coach.
  • Test your thinking with coaches of other sports during NZAS seminars and networking opportunities.
  • Possible financial assistance to learn from the best in NZ and around the globe - you set the project!



Open to

Approximately 70 ‘campaign’ coaches / coaches who produce or support carded athletes.


Entry criteria

  1. Currently working in the NSO’s high performance programme.
  2. Will impact world class athlete performances.
  3. Committed to meeting your end of the bargain (below).

Prioritisation will be based on the current or projected Pinnacle Event performances of the coach’s athlete(s).

Entry process

  • Entry is by negotiation between the NSO and SPARC (in consultation with NZAS Coach Performance Team).
  • The NSO will notify successful coaches.
  • The coach will begin in the programme once a carded coach agreement is signed and returned to SPARC.


Your end of the bargain

  1. Sign a carded coach agreement & SPARC Coaches’ Code of Ethics with SPARC & NZAS.
  2. Actively engage in the Coach Performance Programme.
  3. Active participation in a performance and development review process agreed with NZAS Coach Performance Team (e.g. the Coach Development Survey).
  4. Do everything you can to achieve performance and development targets.
