Waikato Institute of Technology
The Waikato Institute of Technology (Wintec) caters for over 15,000 full time and part-time students, and offers more than 2500 courses. It has played a leading role in the development of sport education programmes in New Zealand and offers a range of qualifications at Certificate, Diploma and Degree level.

The Institute's Avalon Campus is home to the Centre for Sport and Exercise Science, and was opened in 1999. In addition, it also contains the Equine Education Centre, one of New Zealand's most modern equestrian centres.
