Power Scientist Mike McGuigan attended the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) Conference in Orlando recently where he presented on “Monitoring of Strength and Power”. This included how the monitoring in high performance athletes can be used by Strength and Conditioning Coaches to make their programmes more effective. Mike was also awarded the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research Editorial Excellence Award by the NSCA. The award is given each year to an Associate Editor on the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research Board in recognitionof their service to the NSCA.
Paul Laursen and Simon Pearson have both been in Boulder, Colorado with the NZ Triathlon team. Last month Antonio Cala was in Europe with the NZ Swimming Team and soon will head to the USA for Swimming to the Pan Pacific Games. Jason Healy also heads away in August, with Paralympics NZ to the World Swimming Champs.
Rehab Centre Team member Louise Johnson is part of the group taking a trip to Croatia for the IAAF Intercontinental Cup of Athletics as part of the Oceania Team. While there she will spend time with Val Vili while she is competing.
Paul Smith has been with the Hockey Blacksticks Men in Europe and Rod Corban is with the Blacksticks Women in Holland and the UK.
Bruce Blair is with the Rowing Squad and its Coaches at the World Cup Regattas and U23 World Rowing Championships.
